Character Looks?
I've seen pictures of the different jobs on the internet and whatnot, but I was wondering, is that what you look like all the time, regardless of armor? That would be kinda stupid since it would be so hard to distinguish people.

As of right now there are too few options for customization of a character's looks. I hope they add mroe options before release.
It can be hard to distinguish people but its not as bad as you make it sound, plus I look at names to find the person i'm looking for (hold down ctrl in towns to views peoples names if you're not sure how to do that) |

There's always the pleasant possibility that there are a bunch of new armor and sword types being held in reserve, just waiting for release to be introduced. If someone knows not to be true, please don't spoil it for me.

There are about 8 maximum level armours for every class and they are all very distinct. On top of that, you can dye them with a combination of up to 4 different dyes and you also always wear your guilds cape. You can find tons of various weapons and shields and focii (hold in shield hand but adds energy instead of armour points). And you can dye your weapons too. There are a bunch of different faces and hair styles and hair colors but unfortunatly you can't change them after character creation.

some areas of customization are lacking in my regard, some are great.
You can change your character's body size on scale, so that helps. I wish faces were more customizable, I do wish there were more different types of looking armor. I have a feeling at some time we'll get those though. I also want a lot more facial options, hair options, tattoo options, etc... I'm not sure we'll have them on release although it would be nice, but at some point I'm sure they'll be there even if we have to wait for expansions. |

From what I have been reading, it sounds like I am going to be very disappointed with the level of customization in GW -- at least for the moment. Hopefully it will change before launch, though!

If you really care about customization you probably will be dissappointed (unless they improve by the 18th). Personally, I would like more customization but it has no effect on the gameply so it doesn't bother me. I rarely notice what a character looks like anyways, either they're alive or dead, or ally or enemy.

I don't think it will stop me from playing the game - hell, I played FFXI for a year! - but it would be nice to have lots of customization, anyway.

I totally agree. While it isn't something that can make or break a game, it sure is nice to have lots of control over customization.

Upon further research I think I've concluded that new armor changes how you look. I was thinking for awhile that you just have a set character model!

Yeah, Geist. When you get new armor, it changes your appearance.

Hell yeah! I can't wait. As long as you CAN custumize, I am happy. if all proffesions looked the same as the same proffession, that would jsut be lame. Be thankful you can customize how you look. I am pretty saure they will expand on this area eventually. Patients my freinds, patients...

yes, there are different armors, and those different armors can be dyed.
